The best Drugstore & the best High-end BB creme!
Hello there beauties, So as you all know i'm on vacation and I've gotten questions on what makeup if any, do i wear to the beach. I'll discuss my full face makeup in a different post, but i wanted to share the BEST BB creams (in my opinion) that are in the drugstores and high-end makeup counters. So if you're a spender, or a saver like me this post will be perfect for you.
*Before i get into the actual products, i wanted to discuss what a BB cream actually is. BB stands for Beauty Balm. I know some people believe it to be the same as a foundation but with more moisturizer, and I've also heard people say it's the same thing as a tinted moisturizer. BB cream is acentually a tinted moisturizer but it actually helps your skin. A tinted moisturizer is pretty much a foundation and a moisturizer mixed together. A BB cream is made more for acne prone skin because you get the coverage, and it's helping your skin as you're wearing it. BB Creams claim to be a Primer, Moisturizer, Anti-Aging serum, foundation, and sun-block all in one!
So lets start off with my favorite Drugstore BB creme...
Garnier Instant perfection BB Creme
Garnier has made two different BB cremes, the original is "Normal to Dry Skin" and the new one is "Combination to Oily Skin". I use the Normal to dry skin in the winter/fall if i do choose to wear a BB cream, but in the summer which is when i wear it most i use the Combination to oily skin.
Price:
$10-$12 (Look for coupons, i always find them for Garnier!) Worth EVERY penny!!
Coverage:
Very Buildable without looking cakey. It can be built up to be about a full coverage foundation! Amazing!
Finish: Depending on which one you get the finish will change... Normal to Dry skin is a more matte, slightly duey finish, and Combination to Oily is more duey but not overpowering
Lasting Power:
With a primer it lasts all day, and without a primer it still lasts all day but it will slightly fade without a powder and depending on the enviroment you'll be in all day
Why i think it's the Best:
The coverage is REALLY buildable, without looking cakey. I also really love the duey finish they have to them, i find a lot of them just look way to duey but this one is perfect for me.
Other things to know:
-To me the smell is like sunscreen and perfume mixed together, it's not a bad smell or very strong but if you don't like smelly products i don't suggest this although it is a very light smell.
- The Normal to Dry Skin one is VERY moisturizing. I forgot to put on my daily moisturizer on under it and it was really moisturized still. So you don't need to worry about flakes, or dry skin patches.
-The Normal to Dry skin is rather Thin which means it will run. Without squeezing the bottle you'll probably have some run out if you turn it over. The Combination to Oily skin one is much much thicker which means you will need to put a little more effort into blending it.
Now for the high-end lovers...
Kiehl's Skin Tone correcting BB cream
Price:
$28-$37
Finish:
Natural Duey
Coverage:
Buildable to a full coverage, looks really natural even if you put more then one layer
Lasting power:
Lasts all day, even without a primer i find it still looks very good at the end of the day. I wanted to see how it would last without powder also and it looked good until i needed powder about 7 hours into the day.
Why i think it's the best:
It's hard to explain but something about this product is just AMAZING. I love how the minerals are so natural and leaves my skin feeling so silky and flawless. I love the moisture in this one also. Also, SPF 50!
Other comments:
-Only 3 shades!!!!! Kiehl's... you need to fix this! I hate buying two products to mix together to find the perfect fit for me, which also means it would need to be the same everyday and that's hard.
-Please note, if you're planning on taking pictures with this BB cream your face will appear lighter then the rest of your body due to the SPF.
Thank you guys so much, If you have any questions, requests, or comments feel free to leave them in the comment section or my Tumblr & YouTube
Stay Gorgeous,
Lex
